Before any processing can take place, these storage tanks are first cleaned and disinfected. Once this is done, the wastewater is pumped into the sewage treatment plant. Here it is put under high pressure and heat to break down the grease, fats and oils in the waste. This is followed by the separation of the cleaned water from the sewage and flushing it into the sewer system or else it is pumped directly into the drainage system.
Disinfection is done once all the waste is treated. The entire process is a continuous one. Plants need a regular check-up to ensure that there are no clogs in the sewage system. If there are clogs in the sewage system, they will need to be manually removed. This will also require the attention of a qualified technician.
